JOB SUMMARY
Performs complex administrative support work. Work involves providing administrative support including disseminating information; assisting with maintaining filing systems; and preparing and editing reports and documents. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Participates in the planning and execution of regional parole programs; coordinates work with organizational units of the agency; assists in the development of administrative and technical assistance policies and procedures; and prepares and disseminates information related to program activities and procedures.
- Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and documents; compiles and enters data, makes calculations, and prepares reports; researches, composes, designs, and edits publications to include forms, manuals, and reports; assists in the preparation of presentations; and attends meetings, takes notes, and prepares minutes for review.
- Schedules and coordinates appointments, interviews, and conferences; makes travel arrangements and prepares related documents; and maintains filing, record keeping, and records management systems to include automated information systems.
- Provides liaison to departmental staff, other departments, divisions, agencies, and organizations; and responds to inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history system access.
- Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
- Education, Experience, and Training
- Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
- Two years full-time, wage-earning customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, or technical program support experience. Fifteen semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each six months of experience.
- Computer operations experience preferred.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
- Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from the Texas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment date. - Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs.
- Skill to type 45 words per minute (with no more than 10 errors) preferred.

- Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
- Conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
- Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, and automobile.
