Position Summary:

The Administrative Operations Specialist provides administrative support to Student Judicial Programs at Rice University. Student Judicial Programs articulates and enforces the expectations of Rice University—expectations that represent our shared values as a community. This role will be responsible for a variety of administrative and financial matters related to the office’s operations and will serve as a frontline contact for students, campus partners, and external entities.

As an integral member of the team, the specialist assists with the day‑to‑day functions of the department, with a special emphasis on empathetic interactions with students experiencing conduct‑related issues.

Requirements:

This position is full‑time, requiring all duties to be performed in person at Rice University, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM in Lovett Hall. This position requires the ability to climb three flights of stairs to access the office. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.

Hiring Range:

Salary: $45,000–$47,500 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience. Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
    • In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year‑for‑year basis may be substituted
  • 1+ years of experience in an office administrative setting
    • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year‑for‑year basis may be substituted
Skills:
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision‑making
  • Relevant subject matter knowledge
Preferences:
  • More than two years of administrative office experience
  • Experience working in a higher education or counseling/social work environment
  • Experience with Maxient, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive systems
Essential Functions:
  • Implements, administers, and evaluates the day‑to‑day business and administrative activities of Student Judicial Programs
