Federal Workstudy| Student Assistant - TRIO Programs

The TRIO Student Assistant provides administrative and peer support to the TRIO staff and participants. This role is ideal for a student who is organized, empathetic, and eager to help first-generation and low-income students navigate their prep for college.

Key Responsibilities

* Front Desk Operations:
Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and direct students to appropriate resources or staff members.

* Administrative Support:
Assist with data entry (maintaining student records), filing, scanning documents, and managing the TRIO email account.

* Peer Mentoring & Outreach:
Share information about TRIO services with prospective members and provide peer-level guidance.

* Event Assistance:
Help set up and promote TRIO workshops, cultural outings, and graduation ceremonies.

* Digital Engagement:
Assist in creating flyers, newsletters, or social media content to keep TRIO participants informed of deadlines and opportunities.

Required Qualifications

* Work-Study Eligibility:
Must have a current Federal or Texas Work-Study award through the UHD Financial Aid office.

* Enrollment:
Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at UHD.

* Academic Standing:
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Preferred Skills

* Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).

* Ability to handle confidential student information with discretion (FERPA compliance).

* Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus but not required.

* Trio Experience

All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
