Job Description:

Purpose and Scope:
The Student Assistant performs standard administrative duties for multiple individuals or customers. Activities are routine and may be repetitive. Basic duties may include receiving and logging information, making copies, sorting and distributing mail, preparing correspondence or basic documents, answering routine questions and inquiries, providing information and directions, and creating a customer‑friendly environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operate office equipment such as PC, printer, photocopier, fax, scanner, or calculator
  • Open, sort, and distribute mail for managers
  • Perform clerical tasks including typing and proofreading letters, memorandums, forms, and reports
  • Maintain and file department documents
  • Assist with distribution of information to the public, students, and faculty by phone, mail, or other means
  • Provide support during college representation functions (as needed)
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records and databases
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of college rules and procedures
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with the public, students, faculty, and staff
  • Professional presence in dress, speaking, handwriting, and cell phone use during work hours

Physical Abilities: Sedentary work with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light lifting (no special physical demands).

Work Schedule and

Conditions:

  • Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts asainte to carry out job functions
  • Work in a climate‑controlled office with minimal safety hazards

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Currently enrolled Lone Star Student pursuing a course of study

Hourly Pay Rate: $11.32 - $14.55
