Job DescriptionA Junior Accountant supports accounting and financial reporting functions within an organization. This role is responsible for assisting with financial record keeping, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes. The position requires strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and knowledge of accounting principles. The ideal candidate has several years of accounting experience, including exposure to public accounting environments and experience supporting clients in complex industries such as energy or natural resources.
This role works closely with accounting teams and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of financial records and general ledger entries
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with financial reporting and analysis
- Maintain accurate documentation for accounting transactions and processes
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules and documentation
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather financial data and resolve accounting issues
- Utilize accounting systems and spreadsheets to track and analyze financial information
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management
- Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet applications
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–7 years of accounting experience
- Experience working in a public accounting environment or large accounting firm preferred
- Experience supporting accounting or financial reporting for complex industries such as energy, manufacturing, or similar sectors is beneficial
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards and internal controls
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software and accounting systems
- Professional certification or progress toward certification (such as CPA) is a plus
- Pay: $80,000–$115,000 per year (depends on experience)
