Tax Accountant – Confidential Opportunity (9-Month Contract)

A growing energy company is seeking a Tax Accountant to join its U.S. finance team on a 9-month contract with the potential for extension. This role will support tax compliance, tax accounting, and reporting activities while working closely with leadership and external advisors. The position offers exposure to federal and state tax filings, financial statement tax provisions, and tax planning initiatives within a dynamic operating environment.

• Support federal and state tax compliance including income, franchise, excise, and sales tax filings
• Assist with tax accounting and financial statement reporting under IFRS (IAS 12)
• Prepare tax-related journal entries and support monthly and quarterly financial close
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and internal finance teams
• Assist with tax audits, research, and tax planning initiatives
• Maintain documentation and support SOX compliance related to tax processes

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 2–3 years of corporate tax experience
• Strong understanding of tax compliance and tax accounting principles
• Familiarity with IFRS and SOX controls preferred
• Experience in the energy or oil & gas industry is a plus
• CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Taxation is a plus
