A privately held, family‑owned company with approximately $650M in revenue is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its growing accounting team in Houston. The position is open due to continued organic growth, including the addition of a new branch and international joint ventures.
This role reports directly to the VP of Accounting and focuses primarily on domestic accounting operations, financial reporting, and inventory‑related accounting
. The position works closely with senior leadership, operational managers, and external auditors.

- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, eliminations, and variance analysis - Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reporting
- Analyze financial performance and help develop operational and financial metrics to support business decision‑making
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
- Support perpetual inventory accounting
, including work orders and inventory adjustments - Maintain the fixed asset database and reconcile fixed assets to the general ledger
- Assist with cash flow reporting and analysis
- Partner with leadership to develop and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
- Support the company’s annual audit process and external audit relationships
- Assist with accounting and reporting for international subsidiaries and joint ventures
- Collaborate with branch managers and cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and financial transparency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of accounting experience
, including public accounting and/or industry - Inventory accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- CPA preferred but not required if experience is strong
- Experience working within mid‑to large‑sized organizations (~$500M+ revenue preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Experience working with external auditors and financial reporting processes
