POSITION TITLE: Accounting Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Services

The Accounting Manager oversees payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and general ledger functions for a multi-state construction organization, with primary concentration of operations along the Texas‑Louisiana Gulf Coast. This role ensures compliance with federal and state payroll and tax regulations, maintains strong internal controls, and supports operational teams in a collaborative environment. Experience with construction or project‑based accounting and multi‑state sales & use tax is preferred.

• Oversee payroll, AP, AR, cash management, and general ledger activities.
• Supervise weekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate wage, overtime, and deduction calculations in compliance with federal and state laws.
• Manage payroll and tax filings, including Sales & Use Tax, 940/941, SUI, withholding, and W‑2 reporting.
• Support year‑end close processes, audits, and related reporting requirements.
• Maintain and improve payroll procedures, timekeeping systems, and internal controls.
• Perform and review bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage daily cash allocations, including AR receipts, AP payments, and intercompany transfers.
• Assist with month‑end close, payroll tax accruals, and financial reporting.
• Prepare management reports and respond to employee and departmental inquiries.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues and support special projects as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• 8+ years of construction or cost accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with multi‑state payroll and sales & use tax
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Experience with Viewpoint/VISTA or similar construction ERP systems preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
