Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant plays a key role within the Accounting & Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting month‑end and year‑end closing activities, and providing analytical insight to support operational and financial decision‑making. This position is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and fast‑paced, requiring a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Month‑End Close- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Perform month‑end close processes to meet corporate deadlines.
- Assist with year‑end close and audit preparation.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Analyze variances and trends; provide clear explanations and recommendations.
- Partner with departmental managers to interpret financial data and support forecasting.
- Oversee the AR and AP function, reviewing for accuracy, timely reporting and proper coding as needed.
- Book Cash Receipts and Reconcile Bank Account daily.
- Assist with inventory reconciliations, costing analysis, and cycle count reviews.
- Support the accounting team in resolving discrepancies and improving processes.
- Help maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and GAAP standards.
- Identify opportunities for system or process improvements; support implementation efforts.
- Assist with tax filings, property tax schedules, and other regulatory requirements as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 2 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience required—manufacturing, construction, or distribution industry experience preferred. Cost Accounting Experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Net Suite, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, follows through and operates with a sense of urgency.
- Must be dependable and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work competently, independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
