Staff Accountant

Position: Staff Accountant 1
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting operations for various entities and collaborating with operational teams to ensure financial accuracy. This role requires strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

- Handle accounting tasks for plant operations and smaller entities, ensuring accurate financial records.

- Collaborate with operational teams to monitor project progress and evaluate cost center expenditures.

- Manage asset tracking processes, including additions, transfers, disposals, and roll-forward schedules.

- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts and general ledger balances.

- Prepare monthly accruals and reclassification journal entries as needed.

- Generate project billing for smaller-scale projects.

- Meet deadlines outlined in the monthly closing calendar.

- Assist in audits by providing requested documentation and supporting compliance efforts.

- Contribute to the creation of more efficient accounting workflows.

- Research and resolve accounting-related issues as they arise. Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting combined with minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.

- Proficiency in journal entries and general ledger management.

- Hands-on experience with month-end closing processes and activities.

- Strong skills in reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts.

- Familiarity with SAP HANA or similar accounting software.

- Ability to analyze cost center expenses and asset management.

- Solid understanding of accruals and reclassification journal entries.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
