Staff Accountant - Oil & Gas

Houston, TX

We are partnering with a growing Oil & Gas company in Houston to add a Staff Accountant to their accounting team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong general accounting foundation who wants exposure to midstream accounting and the opportunity to grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

+ Assist with month-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations

+ Prepare and maintain balance sheet and income statement schedules

+ Support A/P, A/R, and cash reconciliation activities

+ Assist with revenue and expense analysis, including variance analysis

+ Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting

+ Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed

+ Work cross-functionally with operations, land, and finance teams

+ Participate in process improvements and ad hoc accounting projects

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

+ 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within Oil & Gas or energy

+ Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles

+ Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)

+

Experience with accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Sage, or similar a plus)

+ Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

+ CPA-eligible or interest in pursuing CPA is a plus
