Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our clients accounting team in Houston, Texas. This role is vital in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with company standards and contributing to the overall financial health of our steel manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities:

- Record and maintain accurate journal entries to support financial reporting.

- Reconcile bank accounts and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.

- Manage the general ledger to ensure transactions are properly classified and recorded.

- Assist in the month-end closing process, including preparing necessary reports and documentation.

- Provide support for collections efforts by tracking outstanding balances and communicating with clients.

- Prepare financial statements and other reports for management review.

- Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements during all accounting activities.

- Address and resolve accounting discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.

- Perform ad hoc financial analyses as needed to support decision-making.

Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

- Proficiency in managing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.

- Strong understanding of bank reconciliation processes.

- Experience with month-end closing procedures and financial reporting.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Familiarity with accounting software and tools.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial discrepancies.
