Job DescriptionThe Assurance Senior will coordinate day-to-day planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up, including preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP, documenting, validating, testing, and assessing control systems. This position acts as the client contact for basic questions and is involved in reviews and agreed‑upon procedure engagements.
Responsibilities- Applies knowledge of various factors affecting policies and procedures, including transactional flow and key cycles, to complete audit work.
- Documents, validates, and assesses the design and operating effectiveness of client internal control systems.
- Identifies and communicates suggested improvements to client controls and accounting procedures to reduce risk.
- Supervises and reviews audit staff work.
- Communicates financial statement disclosure requirements to clients, drafts complex financial statements with disclosures, recognizes new pronouncements, and discusses alternative GAAP with senior managers.
- Prepares required communications to the client and audit committee and plans/executes Section 404 internal control audits.
- Applies professional standards (GAAS) to engagement issues, formulates audit plans, and documents deviations from BDO policy.
- Coordinated day‑to‑day conduct of audit plan; applies BDO audit approaches and methodologies.
- Researches complex accounting areas, documents findings, assists engagement manager with business and information system data, and develops audit engagement planning memorandum.
- Provides verbal and written performance feedback to audit associates and supervises their work assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- CPA certification required; eligibility to sit for CPA exams upon employment required.
- Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of audit experience in public or private accounting, consulting, or professional services.
- Prior basic supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes‑Oxley, and internal controls.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team.
- Superior analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and assurance applications.

Illinois Range: $82,000 - $90,000
Maryland Range: $78,000 - $93,000
Minnesota Range: $76,000 - $82,000
Massachusetts Range: $81,500 - $90,000
New Jersey Range: $80,000 - $95,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $80,000 - $115,000
Ohio Range: $75,000 - $82,000
Washington Range: $82,000 - $95,000
Washington DC Range: $80,000 - $100,000
