• Perform hands‑on property and cost accounting for operated oil & gas assets in an operationally focused environment
• Support month‑end and year‑end close, including preparation of journal entries related to depletion, depreciation, amortization, and asset retirement obligations (ARO)
• Maintain detailed accounting records for oil & gas properties, including leases and wells
• Track and analyze capital expenditures (CAPEX) versus operating expenses (OPEX)
• Account for drilling, completion, production, and abandonment costs
• Prepare and review Joint Interest Billings (JIB) and allocate shared costs among working interest partners
• Perform intercompany, ownership, and account reconciliations across multiple legal entities
• Support general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Provide property‑level documentation and support for internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and oil & gas accounting standards, including COPAS and applicable FASB guidance
• Work closely with operations to understand cost drivers and upstream activities
• Support accounting for approximately 300–350 operated wells across multiple entities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Proven experience in oil & gas property and cost accounting
• Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas operations and the full cost lifecycle
• Hands‑on accounting approach with the ability to analyze and validate data beyond system‑generated reports
• Experience preparing and reviewing Joint Interest Billings (JIB)
• Solid general ledger, reconciliation, and close experience
• Working knowledge of GAAP and oil & gas accounting standards (COPAS, FASB guidance)
• Experience with oil & gas accounting systems such as Quorum OnDemand, OGsys, Enertia, Excalibur, or similar
• Experience working in a smaller or lean organization preferred
• Ability to work on‑site four days per week with remote Fridays (non‑negotiable)
