The HT Group has recently partnered with a growing investment management firm located in Downtown Houston in the search for a qualified Senior Accountant to support key accounting functions and the monthly close process. This role will ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, assist in maintaining strong internal controls, and contribute to ongoing growth initiatives, including support with acquisition integration.
This position offers exposure to complex accounting topics and the opportunity to develop within a high-performing finance team in a dynamic and expanding environment.
Location: Downtown Houston, TX (Onsite)
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000 base + 10% bonus
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (extended hours during close cycles)
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review journal entries across various areas (revenue, accruals, prepaids, investments, fixed assets, leases, taxes, etc.)
- Analyze monthly financial statements and prepare variance analyses
- Maintain detailed financial schedules, records, and supporting documentation
- Perform and review bank and general ledger account reconciliations
- Review invoices and transactions for proper accounting treatment under GAAP
- Partner cross-functionally to gather and validate financial information
- Assist with accounting integration activities for acquired entities
- Support external audit processes and deliverables
- Participate in ad-hoc projects, system enhancements, and financial research
- Contribute to process improvements and internal control initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of corporate accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
- Experience in public accounting and/or a public-company environment
- Background working in a private-equity-backed organization
- CPA eligible or active CPA license
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Analytical mindset with curiosity and initiative
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Professional maturity and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Problem-solving mindset and desire to learn and grow
- In-office schedule (Downtown Houston – Parking provided)
- Standard 40-hour week with additional hours during close periods
- Minimal travel
