Gas Service Engineer

Location: Field Based, North West London

Job Type: Permanent, full time

£14 per hour

However, work is issued via a SOR (Schedule of Rates) which means that there is uncapped earnings. We provide a guaranteed minimum take home of £29,120 but because of the SOR’s you can earn anything up to £40k - £50k depending on productivity.

The company is a property maintenance and installation organisation, the Mechanical arm specialises in the servicing, repair and installation of gas central heating and hot water services to local authorities and Housing Association landlords.

It is a well established Gas Contractor who operating across London and surrounding areas with an unrivalled reputation within the building services sector which includes Gas, M&E and HVAC maintenance, repair and installation work.

Role:

Responsible for carrying out the duties of a Gas Service Engineer within the company, to support the provision of contracted building services. To undertake the role of Gas Service Engineer and to carry out scheduled servicing of gas fired appliances. To ensure all aspects of health & safety are applied and observed at all times to protect all members of the public and work colleagues.

To deliver a complete and professional service to all Clients and customers, ensuring customer satisfaction to the highest levels.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities that the role carries include but are not limited to the below;

• To service gas appliances in client owned properties, in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction and guidance. Including landlord safety checks.
• Ensure the security and correct operation of plant and equipment supplied, to include vehicles, flue gas analysis meters and mobile data equipment i.e. PDA’s.
• Ensure all certification and documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with Data Protection and Information Security regulations.
• Regular monitoring of non-returns and call back rates will be in place to ensure standards and service levels are maintained.
• Have a high level of literacy and numeracy to enable the various calculations associated with gas works to be completed along with the dissemination and relation of manufacturer’s instructions
• Have a logical and methodical approach to carrying out a landlord safety check / service, and the ability to stay focused.
• Have a sound knowledge of Customer Care and possess the ability to deal with potentially angry or upset people and be able to cope with the emotional demands dealing with such situations could cause.
• Willing and able to work as part of a team and independently showing initiative dealing with situations and completing tasks.
• To effectively communicate with customers to explain the correct operation of gas appliances and the importance of regularly servicing gas appliances
• Ability to work to deadlines and timescales and liaise with managers and customers regarding changes to schedules or appointments
• Be willing and able to work with and train apprentices or other personnel as required.
• Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Contract Supervisor/Manager

Qualifications:

ACS qualifications - minimum of CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 & CPA1 Minimum of 3 years’ service and landlord safety check experience
