Overview

TEACHER OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY – UPS/Main Scale (Outer London Pay) – Full Time. Applications from newly qualified or experienced teachers welcomed. The Heathland School is an 11-18 oversubscribed school with over 1800 students on roll and a large (500+) Sixth Form. At the heart of our ethos is a ‘Commitment to Excellence’. A qualified teacher is required for September 2026 to join a supportive and highly successful Design Technology department. Food Technology is a popular GCSE option - we use the AQA specification.

• To prepare and deliver quality lessons for a timetable agreed with the Head of Department
• To fulfil the teacher standards and carry out any statutory duties required of a teacher
• To undergo in-service training to keep abreast of developments in school and nationally
• To assess and mark pupils’ work regularly and provide accurate reports as scheduled in the School Calendar
• To follow the school’s and department’s policies and Key Procedures
• To attend school meetings and department briefing
• To attend parents’ evenings as scheduled in the School Calendar
• To carry out the duties of a pastoral tutor (or attached member of staff) within a Year Team
• To be responsible for the environment of a classroom including good displays
• To contribute to the department or school extra-curricular programme by assisting/organising a club and attending school events
