Responsible for repairing and maintaining various equipment in the Houma, LA Yard and will report to the Fabrication Foreman. Must have a 6GR welding certificate or have the ability to pass a 6GR pre‑employment test.

• Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify, propose and implement remedies.
• Perform repairs and maintenance aboard dredges and other marine vessels.
• Install, assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various equipment.
• Fabricate with different types of metals via torches, plasma and other related craft power tools.
• Understanding of diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical manuals for repairs and diagnostics of equipment.
• Understand and sketch complex mechanical and structural drawings.
• Utilize instruments to measure angles, material thickness and distances i.e. squares, levels, tapes and other craft related devices.
• Regularly communicate and work with contractors, vendors and other trades.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean and well organized.
• Complete assigned tasks in a safe and productive manner.
• Follows all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Estimating sizes, distances and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.

• 3+ years of fabrication and shipyard experience.
• Technical understanding of stick, tig/mig & flux‑core processes.
• Experience in weld testing procedures. 6GR.
• Understanding of ABS, OSHA, and USCG regulations related to field.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• Travel (by land, air, and water) to field locations is required, transportation paid.
• Ability to work a 50‑hour work week M-F, overtime as needed.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, layout tools and measurement tools.

• Must possess a valid Driver's license and have a good driving record.
• Required Certification: FCAW‑6GR (Required), SMAW‑6GR (Required), TWIC – Transportation Worker Identification Credential (Preferred).
• Must be able to tolerate heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels in a shipyard setting.
• Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend, or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders.
• Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts, up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Performs other duties as required.
