The Garland County Environmental Services Department has an immediate opening for the position of Mechanical/Maintenance Technician.

This position is responsible for general fleet, building, and equipment maintenance at all facilities of the Department. A primary duty will be an active utilization of our preventative maintenance program whereby repair costs and downtime can be minimized.

The applicant must possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) minimum of three (3) years’ experience in fleet and/or landfill operations or related experience and general knowledge of heavy and light equipment operations and mechanical systems. The incumbent must possess a Commercial Driver’s License and successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. The employee must be willing to work toward a Class IB and 2B Solid Waste Landfill Operator’s License and obtain the license within two (2) years, must attend PC & E approved solid waste classes each year to obtain and maintain SWLF Operator’s License, must possess excellent equipment operator abilities, general ability to operate a computer program, and possess good communication skills when dealing with other employees and when using a 2-way radio.

The employee must be able to read and follow manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines and receive and follow oral directions in a precise manner.
