SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

National Park College is currently seeking a Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator. This is a full-time, 9.5-month Faculty position that will begin in the Fall. This position provides individual support and facilitates the Registered Nurse (RN) and Practical Nurse (PN) programs. The Nursing Skills/Simulation Faculty will coordinate all of the nursing lab spaces, collaborate with the other Nursing Skills/Simulation faculty, and RN and PN nursing team faculty, coordinate skills competency demonstrations, clinical simulation, supervision of lab tutors and coordination of lab equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate clinical simulation activities and evaluation of simulation participants
  • Evaluation of skills competency demonstrations
  • Prepare and post campus nursing lab and simulation lab schedules
  • Design and implement learning activities in the nursing lab that will enhance nursing procedures and critical thinking
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of simulation as an educational and assessment strategy
  • Provide instructions and guide all simulation users in simulation activities, operation of patient simulators, audio-visual equipment, and their maintenance
  • Supervising, evaluating, and delegating responsibilities to student lab workers in accordance with their job description
  • Use technology and nursing experience to implement validated simulation scenarios and debrief students after the simulation experience to enhance student learning
  • Participate in designing and teaching content for all instructional teams (PN and RN)
  • Continuous review, planning, evaluation of the practical nursing program and associate degree nursing curriculum and program for effectiveness and achievement of accreditation standards
  • Follows policies, programs and procedures related to the delivery of services
  • Seeks, selects and uses resources compatible with student/program needs
  • Assesses and documents attainment of program objectives
  • Instruction using classroom and the Learning Management System (LMS). The instructor is expected to actively engage students in lecture and practical application, while effectively using the LMS to enhance the instructional experience
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required skills/abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed presentation, computer, technology and audio-visual equipment skills.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Team-oriented and self-starter
  • Ability to promote a supportive environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences
  • Attendance at annual advisory board/department meetings and other meetings as requested by the program director
  • Mandatory annual participation in continuing education activities
  • Annual completion of course assessment information


Education and Experience :

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with five (5) years nursing experience is preferred
  • Will consider baccalaureate degree in Nursing with five (5) years nursing experience
  • Must hold an unencumbered Arkansas RN license
  • Medical-Surgical/Acute Care Nursing


Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged sitting and standing
  • Extensive walking
  • Prolonged screen time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
