Registered Nurse, Outpatient Services (PRN) – National Park Medical Center

Hot Springs, AR
Join us as a Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Services unit, providing direct patient care on the Pre‑op/Post‑op unit using the nursing process with high‑quality outcomes. The role reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Position SummaryProvides direct patient care on the Outpatient Services, Pre‑op/ Post‑op unit using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Communicates effectively with the care team and the patient/family to support safe, high‑quality outcomes.
Essential Functions- Performs plan‑of‑care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
- Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
- Coll aborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
- Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture‑appropriate patient/family education.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
- Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education.
- Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on‑call assignments.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Patient Populations Served:
Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed:
Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
Exposure:
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens may be present.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, kneeling; rare running or climbing. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Licensure &
Certifications:
Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred;
Handle with Care preferred.
Skills:
Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems; effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand); ability to complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
