Biomedical Mechanical Engineer

Epi Bone is a clinical‑stage company developing revolutionary tissue‑engineered products for skeletal repair. The Biomedical Mechanical Engineer position offers the opportunity to work at our company supporting the clinical and commercial translation of innovative stem cell‑based regenerative tissues for joint repair.

The role will specifically assist in the mechanical manufacturing of biomaterials and bioreactor components per cGMP protocols at our machine shop facility in Horsham, PA. The biomed mechanical engineer will also assist in the development, design, and testing of prototypes for tissue product manufacturing. The role reports to the Head of Engineering.

• Operate machinery such as band saws, CNC mills, 3D printers, lathes, and laser cutter to manufacture components
• Operate in controlled environments for bioprocessing and component preparation including washing and packaging
• Assist with production of Epi Bone’s decellularized bone scaffold manufacturing
• Assist with select quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) tasks
• Maintain equipment calibration, inventory, and updated SOPs for manufacturing
• Maintain accurate batch records and test data per good documentation practices (GDP)
• Liaise with external collaborators or contractors to assist with training and troubleshooting
• Design, prototype, and test products throughout an iterative design control process
• Plan research experiments, interpret data, and generate technical reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

• BS in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related fields with 0‑2 years of work experience
• First‑hand experience with machine shop tool use, procedures, safety, and troubleshooting
• Comfortable processing animal tissues for biomaterial preparation
• Has experience with 3D design software (e.g., Solid Works and Mastercam)
• Understands engineering design process, risk management, and good documentation practices
• Hascn experience with data analysis software and technical writing
• Can operate independently, collaborate in a team, and easily adapt to rapidly changing project plan or timeline

• Thorough understanding of the iterative design process and strong troubleshooting experience
• Proficient work experience using computer hardware and coding languages (Matlab, C, Python)

• Must commute to Horsham, PA
