Grafton Banks Finance are working with a growing commercial SME company with offices in Horsham, West Sussex to recruit a Part Qualified Financial Accountant on a full-time permanent basis. This is a newly created role working within a friendly finance team reporting into the Group Financial Controller. You will be responsible for supporting the business to ensure accurate, timely and complete accounting records are kept for all group companies.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly Management Information and answer questions that arise on them
  • Oversee accruals and prepayments analysis to support production of management accounts
  • Assist in the management of annual year-end statutory audit
  • Assist in the preparation of draft statutory accounts
  • Assist and oversee bank and other accounts reconciliations
  • Prepare & input journals in to accounts systems
  • Oversee daily member payments and assist where needed
  • Assist with analysis of accounts information and creation of management reports, including investigating and reporting on variances
  • Assist with management and training of junior staff
  • Treasury management and liaising with bank contacts
  • Own VAT manual for the business and ensure that it is adopted
  • Prepare and oversee payment of adviser bonuses
  • Purchase and Sales Ledger
  • Oversee purchase ledger including expenses and assist where needed
  • Oversee sales ledger and assist where needed
  • Ensure purchase invoices are authorised in accordance with guidelines and posted accurately to the purchase ledger
  • To ensure creditor payments are raised as they fall due in accordance with company guidelines
  • Oversee credit control of customer balances
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Ensure additions and disposals of assets properly accounted for
  • Support the Financial Controller with general administration and projects as required.
  • Check and sign the work produced monthly by the payroll outsource. Deal with ad payroll payment queries from the business
  • Tax administration
  • Complete and file corporation tax returns
  • Prepare year-end tax accruals
  • Calculate estimates for interim tax payments and ensure that tax is paid in line with HMRC deadlines

The successful candidate will be actively studying towards CIMA, ACCA OR ACA with strong practical experience within finance alongside good computer skills, including at least intermediate level Excel. You will need to have excellent communication skills with the ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team.
