As a Residential Practitioner you will play a key role in the lives of young people currently living in residential services supporting them to live safely within our houses. It’s hands‑on, often challenging but can also be rewarding. You will help create an environment that promotes positive respect and provides care that meets a young person’s needs.

About you
  • Certificate IV in Child Youth and Family Intervention or other relevant recognised qualification must be held or underway.
  • If not included in your qualification you will be required to complete the mandatory units of competency:
  • CHCMHS
    007 Work effectively in trauma informed care
  • CHCPRT
    009 Provide primary residential care
  • CHCCCS
    009 Facilitate responsible behaviour
  • CHCPRT
    010 Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs

If the above conditions are not met you must be willing to be enrolled and commence the minimum qualification training upon commencement of employment. This will occur during initial induction (first 2 weeks) before any direct care is provided.

It is expected that the mandatory units of competency (including the workplace hours and assessments) are completed within 12 weeks of enrolment. Additionally if you are undertaking the minimum qualification you are expected to complete the qualification within the timeframe prescribed by the education training provider.
