St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Thurrock invites applications for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support SEND pupils. The role is situated in a vibrant Catholic environment that values academic achievement, physical and mental wellbeing, and pastoral care. The successful candidate will partner closely with the Class Teacher to deliver high-quality interventions and promote learning outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide targeted support to SEND pupils, including 1:1 and small group work.
- Collaborate with the Class Teacher to plan and assess teaching interventions.
- Maintain pupil safety during lunchtime break, supervise the dining hall, and administer first aid.
- Engage pupils creatively to enhance learning and attendance.
- Work flexibly and enthusiastically within school hours (8:30‑15:30 Monday‑Friday term time).
- High expectations for pupils and yourself, with a passion for raising standards.
- Confidence to support pupils with challenging social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and ability to facilitate attainment.
- Capacity to support pastoral needs and work effectively in small groups and 1:1 settings.
- Clear commitment to professional development and improving practice.
- Competitive Band 3 salary (Point 8‑12) with fringe allowance.
