POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Project Coordinator III at LJA Environmental
, all environmental natural resource services including but not limited to Waters of the United States delineation, Waters of the State assessment, T&E Species habitat assessment/surveys, USACE Section 404 Clean Water Act permitting and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. The individual is responsible for the completion of field assessments, GPS data collection, preparation of technical reports, preparation of federal/state permit applications, local/state/federal agency coordination, client coordination and internal LJAES coordination.

The position is intended to work directly with PMs as needed to provide the technical resources required for project development and completion.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE
  • Lead field team(s) to complete a variety of field tasks including Waters of the United States delineation, threatened and endangered species studies, habitat assessments, etc.
  • Organize and schedule field surveys and clearly communicate with team members.
  • Communicate with adjacent LJA sectors – land development, surveying, transportation, etc.
  • Communicate with clients about field assessment results, project status and schedule.
  • Preparation of draft aquatic resources reports, threatened and endangered species reports, habitat assessment reports, ecology reports, environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, etc.
  • Perform GIS services such as exhibit preparation, wetland delineation maps, etc.
  • Attend meetings with clients, LJAES staff and LJA upper management.
  • Draft budgets and proposals, complete bill review and approve invoices for their respective projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental regulatory process and procedures of various state and federal agencies; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mobile District, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Alabama Ecological Field Office, Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), etc.
  • Proficient in performing tasks required for projects under Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), etc.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and client engagement skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • USACE Wetland Delineation Course (Required)
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Arborist (CA), Certified Wetland Delineator (CWD), Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act Consultation, Compensatory Wetland and Stream Mitigation, Natural Channel Design (NCD), Certified Natural Resources Professional (CNRP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), etc. (Not Required)
