PositionSummary
The primary responsibilities of the role include all aspects of processing, decontamination through set assembly, and sterilization and/or high-level disinfection. Dependent on the clinical setting preparation of surgical case carts and materials management may be expectations of the role.
Duties/Responsibilities- Separate and prepare contaminated instrumentation for cleaning.
- Prepare, install, assemble, clean, and sterilize/disinfect operating room or procedure room equipment and instrumentation and medical devices.
- Decontaminate, process, sterilize/disinfect, and distribute medical supplies.
- Inspect and perform functional checks on instrumentation/equipment to assure proper functioning prior to set/tray assembly.
- Process, wrap, and label all equipment and instrumentation for sterilization using appropriate wraps and containers.
- Perform proper documentation as it relates to the sterilization/HLD process.
- Perform all duties relating to daily maintenance for all types of sterilizers/re-processors.
- Communicate departmental equipment and supply needs to appropriate supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Sterile Processing education from an accredited school or training program
- BLS certification (as required by individual ASC policy)
Preferred
- Experience in a sterile processing department
- Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
