Position: HEAVY EQUIPMENT & CONSTRUCTION WELDER (BC-11) [1 vacancy]

The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) is seeking a Heavy Equipment & Construction Welder in Halawa. This position is responsible for performing skilled welding that involves extensive fabrication work in the construction and/or repair and modification of heavy vehicles, construction, stationary plant or other industrial‑type equipment as a regular assignment.

What You Will Do
  • Metal Fabrication & Structural Welding:
    Repairs, modifies, designs, and fabricates metal structures and equipment using advanced welding, cutting, brazing, and heat‑treating techniques on ferrous and non‑ferrous metals.
  • Heavy Equipment & Vehicle Repair:
    Performs skilled welding and fabrication on light and heavy construction equipment, vehicles, pressure vessels, and related structural components in shop and field settings.
  • Blueprint Interpretation & Precision Layout:
    Reads and interprets blueprints and independently lays out, measures, and patterns work when plans are unavailable.
  • Equipment Operation, Planning & Quality Control:
    Operates welding systems and shop machinery, estimates time and materials, inspects completed work for quality and safety compliance, and maintains a safe, organized workspace.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Training and Experience Requirement

Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey‑level skills and duties of a Heavy Equipment & Construction Welder.

License/Certificate Requirements

The following license and certificates are required for the job at the time indicated.

Prior To Appointment
  • Valid driver’s license (Type
    3).
