Plumber – Honolulu

• Install, maintain, and repair water, sewer, gas, drainage, and plumbing systems in City buildings, park facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Perform skilled plumbing work on fixtures such as water heaters, pumps, coolers, toilets, sinks, urinals, rain gutters, downspouts, and irrigation systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure systems are safe, functional, and compliant with codes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and plans; estimate materials, time, and labor; maintain accurate records of completed work.
• Support other trades, assist with projects and events, and respond to emergency or disaster-related plumbing needs.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned for the position.

• Work schedule Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; hours may vary. Overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
• Serves as Disaster Response Worker and may be called to work while off duty.
• Exposure to outdoor elements, sewer gases, unsanitary conditions, confined spaces, and other typical plumbing trade conditions.
• Heavy lifting, carrying, and physical labor in outdoor environments.
• Officers may require unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC) and a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check and clearance.

Experience and/or training sufficient to competently perform the journey-level skills and duties of a plumber, demonstrating skill in installing, maintaining, and repairing water, gas, sewer, and drainage systems and accessory fittings in buildings and related structures, and the ability to plan and lay out plumbing work independently.

• Valid Hawaii State journey-level plumber’s certificate of registration. Submit a copy of your license with your application.
• Hawaii State Type 3 Driver’s License prior to appointment.
• All required licenses and certifications must be maintained on a current basis during employment.
