Job Summary: Supervises and participates in the adjustment, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment; performs skilled mechanical repair work, plans, lays out, assigns and reviews work of subordinates; works alongside subordinates to set pace and quality; instructs and monitors safe use of equipment and tools; inspects machinery for needed repairs; reads and interprets blueprints; estimates material and labor costs, submits requisitions, prepares reports of work accomplished.
Qualifications:
- Experience & Training: Five (5) years in mechanical repair & maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical & electrical equipment, with at least one year fully competent maintenance mechanic; or equivalent.
- Certification Requirement: At least one year of independent welding duties or successful completion of a certified welding apprenticeship program.
- Knowledge: Practices and methods in mechanical repair trade, including safety procedures; tools, equipment and materials used.
- Ability: Use power and hand tools; detect malfunctions and make repairs; estimate material, parts and labor; keep records and make reports; recognize hazards and take safety actions; plan, lay out and review work of other skilled mechanics; give and follow oral and written instructions; perform heavy lifting and other manual work typical of the class.
- PREA Requirement: Must not have engaged in sexual abuse, convicted of sexual activity involving force, or have any allegations or resignations related to sexual abuse or harassment.
- Other Requirements: Conditional approvals subject to drug screening and an intensive background check.
- Driver's License: Valid driver’s license required at the time of appointment.
