PW Assistant Golf Course Mechanic
Key Responsibilities- Assist Senior Mechanic with the preventive maintenance program for golf course equipment. Include repair of equipment and maintaining records of parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. Maintain a clean service area and maintenance building and uphold the club policies, standards and guidelines.
- Assist Senior Mechanic with daily inspections, diagnoses and repairs of mechanical defects/failures in golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, electric and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks, rollers, mowers and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
- Assist Sr. Mechanic with instructing and/or training golf course maintenance staff regarding preventive maintenance and safe operation and cleaning of equipment.
- Keep complete records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment.
- Perform spot checks of equipment on the course, make emergency repairs as needed, and service or supervise servicing of equipment prior to use.
- Assist with overseeing the shop area maintenance.
- Assist with regulating employees’ use of equipment in the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, if needed, and perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Work Hours:
Daily between 4am – 1pm or as needed based on position and/or operations needs.
- Golf carts, turf equipment
- Reel grinding machines, other shop equipment
- Welding equipment

- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Good reporting and communication skills.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in golf or related field.
- Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance and automotive apparatuses.
- Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair.
- Working knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
- Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
- Ability to move heavy objects.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
