Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Automotive Technician
Provides timely, quality maintenance for Fed Ex vehicle fleet and ground support equipment, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and documentation. Documents work and maintains adequate inventory using Fed Ex computer systems. Ensures work complies with OSHA and DOT standards. Guides and supports a staff of technicians and trainees. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
High school diploma/GED. Vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred. ASE Master certification preferred.
Minimum Experience
Four (4) years of fleet, automotive, or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience. Experience with welding and basic D.C. electrical troubleshooting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the use and operation of all equipment and testing tools associated with troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid motorized equipment. Proficient in operating a personal computer. Demonstrates teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Job Conditions
Possession of a basic set of automotive hand tools, including metric sizes. Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver heavier weights with assistance. Ability to work without supervision for extended periods. Capable of working in noisy, non air-conditioned/heated environments. Must work any shift and possess a valid driver's license in the state of residence. This is a non-covered safety-sensitive position.
