Position: Federal Security Contract Trainer

Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring a Protective Security Officer Trainer for Hawai‘i. The role involves conducting training activities in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as Allied Universal standards. The trainer will deliver courses on CPR/First Aid/AED, Defensive Tactics (handcuffs, pepper spray, batons, firearms), Fire Safety Services, and other value‑added services such as workplace violence/active shooter training.

Salary: $117,000 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Work with operational partners (Human Resource Coordinators/Branch Managers) to develop practical training programs at the branch level, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory mandates.
  • Identify, vet, and establish relationships with local training academies to support external training opportunities.
  • Communicate with stakeholders (Regional Training Manager, Field Operations, Security Professionals, Supervisors, Field and Corporate Training, and Clients).
  • Deliver field training programs in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and Allied Universal standards.
  • Conduct CPR/First Aid/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Conduct Defensive Tactics training (handcuffs, pepper spray, batons, firearms).
  • Conduct field training for Security Professionals and Supervisors.
  • Deliver leadership training such as the Certified Security Professional program to Security Professionals and Supervisors.
  • Support special projects on an as‑needed basis to support the region.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Training Instructor for one or more of the following disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of classroom instruction (not a newly certified instructor):
    • Firearms Instructor via NRA Range Official and any state requirements.
    • CPR/First Aid/AED Certified Instructor via American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • NWDTP (National Weapons Detection Training Program) through FLETC – may be obtained after hire.
  • Completion of an accredited Principles of Instruction course (via NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC, or Military Training course) certifying instruction in:
    • Presentation skills and Graphics
    • Student‑Centered Learning
    • Performance Objective Development
    • Testing and Assessment
    • Training Tools and Technology
    • Lesson Plan Development
    • Instructional Methodologies
    • Evaluating Laboratories and Practical Exercises
    • State‑required licensing training or other qualifications for licensing.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to pass a state licensing test if operating company‑owned or client‑provided vehicles.
Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

Minimum of 2 years of classroom instructor experience.

Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills; ability to interact at all organizational levels, including with clients.
  • Ability to write manuals, review and respond to written requests for proposals, training documents, and prepare extensive presentations.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and other office management technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage deadlines.
  • Professional, articulate, and exercise good independent judgment and discretion.
  • Once approved and vetted with FPS, Training Instructors must complete NWDTP certification at FLETC, with annual recertification.
Other Related Attributes That Would Enhance Hiring Consideration
  • NRA Law Enforcement Instructor certification or eligibility for all NRA Law Enforcement (LE) requirements.
  • College coursework in Education, Business, Criminal Justice, Human Resources, Security Management, or related field.
  • Prior experience in the security industry, law enforcement, and/or military.
