Position: Work Program Specialist V, IV, Professional Worker III - Facilities Development Branch

The authorized level of the position is Work Program Specialist V. Applications are being accepted down to the Professional Worker III in the event of recruiting difficulties.

Salary Range

Work Program Specialist V, SR-24: $6,043.00 - 7,351.00 per month
Work Program Specialist IV, SR-22: $5,369.00 - 6,535.00 per month
Professional Worker III, SR-20: $4,961.00 - 6,043.00 per month

Plans, organizes, schedules and supervises the conduct of studies relating to policies, procedures, standards and program operations affecting manpower, materials, equipment and funding; recommends actions or improvements and develops plans for implementation; develops work schedules and coordinates the various divisional programs; evaluates and supervises the compilation of the division's budget to include preparation of proper justifications; coordinates the implementation of the expenditure plan;

participates in the development of school furniture standards; recommends and implements training programs; confers with PTA groups, school officials and other interested parties; supervises lower-level specialist and other employees; prepares narrative and statistical reports and correspondence; and performs other duties as required.

Education Requirement

Graduation from an accredited college or university. Excess experience of the type and quality described below, or progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical or investigative work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience Requirement

Except for the substitution provided for in this specification, applicants must have had progressively responsible experience of the kind and quality described below:

  • Professional Worker III – 1 ½ years of progressively responsible work experience.
  • Work Program Specialist IV – 2 ½ years of work or program analysis and evaluation experience; viz. experience in operational planning, organizational analysis, budget analysis or methods studies, to improve the efficiency of a given operation.
  • Work Program Specialist V – 3 ½ years of the type of experience described for Work Program Specialist IV above. In addition, applicants for this level must demonstrate possession of supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involves some supervisory responsibilities or aspects;

    by serving as a group or team leader or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
Substitutions Allowed

A Master's degree in business or public administration or a closely related major from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Driver's License Requirement

Applicants must possess a current, valid driver's license.

Quality of Experience

Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that applicant has the ability to perform effectively the duties of the position for which applicant is being considered.

Salary

The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.

Unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks. Part-time experience is pro-rated. Example:
