About the Role
As a Department Manager, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. By bringing everyone together, you’ll create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit, helping you, your team, and H&M succeed. You’ll ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers and colleagues, identify strengths and opportunities, analyze sales and create plans to optimize results and profits.
ADay in the Life
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities.
Customer Sales & Profit- Responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines
- Represent the H&M brand positively during customer interactions
- Identify commercial opportunities and act on them
- Establish and analyze sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimize results
- Ensure customer service is provided in all areas of the store and that the team actively promotes and sells products to customers
- Promote the Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives
- Manage your department cost‑efficiently
- Ensure correct routines in fitting room and checkout, including transactions, returns and exchanges
- Handle all admin routines for people and operations correctly
- Keep up‑to‑date with fashion scene, trends, styles, brands, products, competitors and relevant influencers
- Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge during customer interactions
- Recruit, onboard, manage performance, upskill and develop your team in‑store
- Complete performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs
- Share knowledge and skills with your team
- Collaborate, plan and work with the in‑store Visual Merchandiser team
- Give and receive feedback with colleagues to learn, develop and support each other
- Plan and schedule the team
- Communicate to store colleagues to inform, motivate and inspire – daily, weekly meetings, etc
- Ensure all procedures, routines and legal requirements in all areas of the store are followed
- Participate in onboarding and training processes relevant to your role and future development
- Maintain clean and tidy sales floor and back of house, including stockroom areas
- Ensure high fashion quality, visual and commercial product presentation
- Secure good stock levels and provide input on allocation to the Area team
- Ensure the full garment cycle – from delivery to presentation – and fitting room routines follow our internal standards and technology
- Follow best practice for in‑store OMNI services and technology tools
- Maintain price signs and ensure consistent price perception throughout the store
- Update and upkeep of BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health and safety, tidiness)
- Responsible for opening and closing of store daily
- Strong leader who enjoys taking responsibility for others
- Ambitious, effective communicator, supportive, analytical and capable of working with numbers and managing statistics

CompensationExpected base salary range: $24.15 – $28.50 hourly.
