Research Scientist
Job Summary
This undergraduate research coordinator will conduct fieldwork and lab work related to water quality and fish population research. They will also contribute to data entry, management, and analysis as well as the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
LocationThis position is a part-time, non-exempt, grant-funded research position, scheduled to end in August 2026. The position requires in person duties located at our downtown Honolulu campus sites.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma
- 2 months of experience conducting environmental science related research
- At least 2 environmental science lab courses
- At least 1 course on statistics
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Animal Care and Usecertification.
- CITI Working with Fish in Research Settingscertification.
- Experience with water quality monitoring and nutrient analysis.
- Detail-oriented organizational skills and ability to communicate professionally with students, staff, and faculty.
- Outstanding writing skills and experience with the environmental scienceliterature.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
- Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary.
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
- Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
