Registered Nurse-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary

Registered Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. Full-time, W‑2 position. Platinum Business Corporation, a nationwide healthcare staffing firm, is seeking an experienced RN to support pediatric critical care.

Services may include 8‑, 10‑, or 12‑hour shifts, 7 days per week including weekends and federal holidays. All shifts include a 30‑minute non‑paid meal break and two 15‑minute paid breaks.

• Maintain composure and effective communication with patients, families, and staff; manage difficult or distressed individuals.
• Respond promptly and competently to emergencies, including cardiac or respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe trauma, and psychiatric reactions.
• Serve as a member of the resuscitation team.
• Assess patients for potential or life‑threatening crises; distinguish normal from abnormal findings during physical and vital‑sign assessment.
• Plan and implement appropriate nursing care.
• Obtain patient and pertinent family history.
• Document care plans and interventions in the patient’s medical record.
• Perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administer potent drugs (e.g., atropine, dopamine, dobutamine) based on weight.
• Administer various pulmonary ventilation treatments, including oxygen via invasive and non‑invasive means.
• Assist physicians with complex, life‑threatening procedures such as cardioversion, central line insertion, and intubation.
• Operate and monitor complex equipment—hemodynamic monitors, ventilators, oxygen monitors, etc.
• Provide patient and family education on medication reactions, health maintenance, and illness prevention.
• Manage care involving multiple medications and technical equipment, performing thorough assessments and taking corrective action.
• Apply nursing principles and procedures for critically ill infants, children, adolescents, and teenagers.
• May also work in the Pediatric Ward, Neonatal ICU, or Mother‑Baby area.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum one year of experience in the last five years within a PICU or pediatric critical care area as a Registered Nurse.
• Current, unencumbered RN license from any U.S. state or territory.
• Current American Heart Association basic and advanced life‑support certifications: BLS, ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
