Registered Nurse (RN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Casual Hire – Night Shift 6p-6a (one shift per week).
Job PurposeJob Purpose: The Nurse Supervisor assists the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing in overseeing daily operations within the nursing department, supervising and training staff, and ensuring optimal care and services for Residents.
Essential Functions- Promotes and restores Residents’ well‑being by overseeing the nurse delegation program and daily nursing assessments.
- Ensures resident care is provided in a dignified and respectful manner.
- Performs resident assessments prior to admission, 30 days after admission, every six months thereafter, or as needed for status changes.
- Assists with functional assessments on all residents, including Fall Risk, Mini‑Mental, Geriatric Depression Scale, and/or Elopement Assessments.
- Notifies the Director of Nursing, Administrator, physician, and family of significant changes in condition and takes appropriate action as directed.
- Assists in emergency situations involving residents.
- Writes incident reports promptly and follows up with appropriate investigations.
- Ensures medications are ordered, received, and handled in accordance with company policy.
- Communicates with physicians regarding written and verbal orders, transcribes orders accurately, and ensures follow‑up.
- Functions as a floor nurse as needed, including PRN medication administration.
- Makes daily rounds to assess unit effectiveness and identify needs and concerns.
- Communicates trends to the Director of Nursing and Administrator to develop action plans.
- Recommends policy and procedure changes to maintain compliance with state and federal laws while providing best care.
- Maintains compliance with state, federal, and community policies and procedures.
- Completes forms and reports requested by leadership.
- Collaborates with state inspectors during surveys and addresses care complaints.
- Ensures supplies and equipment areas are clean, orderly, and within budget.
- Maintains positive rapport with residents, families, visitors, and community members, resolving concerns promptly.
- Performs additional duties as directed.
- Oversees the daily nurse delegation program for assigned floors.
- Schedules nursing and resident care staff to maintain appropriate resident‑staff ratios.
- Enforces attendance policies and replaces team members as needed.
- Supervises care staff in the absence of the Director of Nursing, providing ongoing performance feedback.
- Ensures resident records are complete and accurate through frequent audits.
- Communicates regularly with staff to provide information and address concerns.
- Provides new hire and ongoing training to resident care staff and instructs on equipment use.
- Current State of Hawaii Nursing License (LVN, RN), in good standing.
- Current Tuberculosis Clearance, per the State of Hawaii Department of Health.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
Location:
Waianae, HI. Salary: $77,000.00 annual.
