Duties

* You may be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

* You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require exposure to high noise levels.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This position may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
* This may be a Drug Testing position. If so, successful completion of pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.

Qualifications Minimum qualifications include knowledge of using basic hand and power tools, following written and verbal instructions, following established safety procedures and ability to wear personal protective equipment, basic knowledge of industrial operations Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard is hiring for the following trades.
1. Shop 11 Ship fitter
- Lays out, fabricates, installs, removes, and repairs structural parts on Naval ships and support equipment in accordance with blueprints. Utilizes carpentry principles while working with welders to assemble various types of metal plates, beams, angles, and pipes.
2. Shop 17 Sheet Metal Mechanic
- Manufactures, installs, repairs, and modifies complex ventilation systems, furniture, light gage bulkheads, lockers, and doors on submarines, surface craft, and in the shop.
3. Shop 26 Welder
- Joins and cuts all types of industrial and marine metals using complex welding and thermal cutting processes during the overhaul, repair, and modernization of submarines and surface craft.
4. Shop 31 Machinist
- Manufacture and/or refurbish ship parts/components using machinery such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, drilling presses, and computer numerical controlled machines.
5. Shop 31 Rubber Worker
