Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance.

Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial.

Position:

Maintenance Technician

Location:

Honolulu, HI 96816 (Kaimuki - Oahu)

Schedule:

Monday to Friday: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm

** Subjective to emergencies: after hours, weekends and holidays**

Compensation per hour:

$25.00

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative general maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical (light replacement/ballast, driver replacement), mechanical and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning)/Chiller Readings/AC install (window units), and grounds maintenance.
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
  • Able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs up to 75 lbs, walk, bend, stretch during shift.
  • Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.
  • Create and maintain work orders.
  • Create and maintain purchase orders.
  • Ability to work in warm/hot conditions, utilize stairs, and navigate up and down a ladder.
  • Perform any additional maintenance related duties as required by Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) supervisor/property management.

Skills/

Qualifications:
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must have a valid Hawaii driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must have basic hand tools.
  • General preventative maintenance experience is required (Basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50 lbs (up to 80 lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, walk up and down a stairway, climb up/down a ladder and stand throughout their shift.
