Part-Time Custodian

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with excellent customer service skills and a detail-oriented approach to clean and maintain a commercial location. Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory.

The ideal candidate will also be responsible for cleaning common areas, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.

• Ensure the cleanliness of the building and surrounding facility.
• Communicate effectively and possess a good understanding of English.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, dusting, and mopping floors.
• Promptly clean up spills.
• Empty trash and recyclables, replace liners, and dispose of waste to designated areas.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management or the property manager, including sweeping and picking up trash in the parking lot and back driveway.
• Restock necessary supplies.
• Maintain mobility through standing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, and carrying throughout the three‑hour shift in various weather conditions.
• Assist maintenance technicians as needed.

• Must pass a background check.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous janitorial, custodian, housekeeping experience or related experience is preferred, and the ability to train is required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Good public relations skills and communication ability.
• Experience with outdoor work while standing for three continuous hours.
• Applicants must perform basic manual labor, including cleaning common areas, frequently lifting, squatting, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Minimum weight lifting capacity is 25 lbs (up to 50 lbs). Must be able to kneel, crawl, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairways, use an elevator, and climb a ladder.

• Schedule:
  
  7 days, 21 hours per week;
  Sunday to Saturday: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
• Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
