Overview
The Hawaii State Judiciary is currently accepting applications for three (3) Attorney vacancies. Two positions are located on Oahu and one on Kauai.
Open Positions- 1st Circuit Court, Administrative Services Division
Attorney (Program) II - Honolulu, Oahu, Recruitment Number 25-217TO
SR-26D ($6,535 per month) to SR-26L ($8,945 per month). The Rule 40 Staff Attorney is assigned to the Criminal Administrative Judge of the First Circuit and focuses on Rule 40 of the Hawaii Rules of Penal Procedures. Duties include in-depth legal research, analyzing complex legal issues, and drafting comprehensive legal memoranda and proposed rulings for the Criminal Administrative Judge, multiple criminal divisions of the First Circuit, the criminal assignments branch, and related criminal division issues within the First Circuit Administration;
and performing other duties as required.
- 1st Circuit Court, Office of the Chief Court Administrator
Family Court Attorney - Kapolei, Oahu, Recruitment Number 25-274TO
SR-26D ($6,535 per month) to SR-26L ($8,945 per month). The position provides legal and policy support to the Family Courts statewide, serving as a legal advisor to the Board of Senior Family Court Judges and Directors. Responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting opinions, developing policies and procedures for statewide consistency, coordinating legislative efforts for the Family Courts (drafting bills and testimony, monitoring and analyzing legislation, disseminating updates, responding to inquiries, implementing new laws through policy and form development), revising and updating the Hawai‘i Family Court Rules, and serving as the First Circuit Family Court Custodian of Records.
Duties also include responding to subpoenas duces tecum in coordination with the Deputy Attorney General, assisting with updates to the Hawaii Family Court Records Retention Policy, advising staff on policy compliance, and performing other related duties as assigned.
- 5th Circuit Court, Office of the Chief Court Administrator
Attorney (Program) I - Lihue, Kauai, Recruitment Number 25-236TO
SR-24D ($6,043 per month) to SR-24L ($8,273 per month). This Attorney position is responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, recommendations and technical support services to the Chief Court Administrator, Chief Judge, Judges and administrators of the Fifth Circuit. The position may assist with mortgage foreclosures and other specific case types under the Fifth Circuit’s jurisdiction and provide staff specialist services to support Judiciary initiatives, court operations and programs;
and perform other related duties as assigned.
The starting salary may be at a rate between the minimum to maximum salary range listed above, based on qualifications.
Licensing RequirementHAWAI`I BAR LICENSE REQUIREMENT: A valid license to practice law in all courts of the State of Hawaii is required for the Attorney positions listed above. Applicants who have a current and INACTIVE license may apply; however, verification of a current and ACTIVE license is required upon selection.
