Overview

Nakupuna Companies is seeking an IT Intern to support internal IT operations in Honolulu, Hawaii during the summer internship period. The IT Intern will assist with providing Tier I–III support to Nakupuna Companies employees and contribute to internal IT projects that improve efficiency, strengthen IT processes, and enhance end‑user experience. This position will also support the development and maintenance of internal documentation, SOPs, and SharePoint Online resources.

This is a paid internship for students currently pursuing a post‑baccalaureate or graduate degree, as well as recent post‑baccalaureate or graduate degree recipients. The position is based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, and is expected to be approximately 40 hours per week during the summer term. The internship may take place anytime between May 26, 2026, and September 6, 2026, with specific start and end dates determined in coordination with the supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • End User Support
    • Provide technical support for Office 365 users, including system access, permissions, password resets, and system administration.
    • Support the resolution of Tier I, II, III service desk/help desk tickets under the guidance of IT staff.
    • Assist with assigning new user accounts and email addresses in Active Directory/Office 365/Exchange.
    • Assist in the creation and maintenance of team processes, procedures, and SOP documentation.
    • Provide help desk reports on reported issues.
    • Configure end‑user devices such as workstations, laptops, tablets, and phones for end users.
    • Support onboarding/offboarding activities, including equipment setup and access requests.
  • Conference Room and Microsoft Teams Support
    • Provide technical support for Microsoft Teams users.
    • Assist users in the configuration, use, and setup of meeting rooms and meeting room technology.
    • Troubleshoot common audio/visual issues and support conference room readiness.
  • Business Applications and Systems Support
    • Provide recommendations and assist with assessment of IT systems and architecture.
    • Leverage knowledge of IT architectures to enhance and improve business processes and performance.
    • Evaluate emerging and requested technologies, provide support and recommendation on implementation.
    • Provide user support and administration assistance for SharePoint Online, including first‑line support, basic end‑user training, directing users to available training materials and internal resources, error identification, permission updates, investigation and resolution, and assisting with page edits and updates.
    • Provide end‑user support on various business applications.
Qualifications

Skills/

Qualifications:

Applicants must be enrolled as a degree‑seeking student in an accredited college program and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater. Must be 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.

Organizational and planning skills, excellent communication, customer service and problem‑solving skills, problem analysis, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision‑making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable and customer‑oriented. Preferred Security+, A+, Net+, MCSA, or other IT certifications.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Associate degree is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, and desktop software.
In‑Office Requirements

Due to the in‑person nature of this internship, intern must have the ability to work from the Honolulu office five (5) days per week.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergencies.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
Compensation

The Nakupuna Companies use a market‑based compensation strategy to ensure that employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract‑specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $24 to $30 (hourly USD).

The hourly range displayed represents the typical hourly range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
