Network Administrator

Overview

Aloha! One of our clients is seeking a high-level Network Engineer to assist with various network refresh upgrades/projects supporting the State of Hawaii. This position is primarily on-site and requires the employee to have reliable transportation as travel to different sites is needed.

• Design, deploy, and implement core route/switch and/or data center networks in accordance with industry best practices.
• Work with Nexus 7K/5K/2K platforms; experience with these is preferred.
• Develop and understand logical design models (L2/L3, VPC, VDC, Datacenter Zones, Spanning Tree, VFR, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling).
• Apply technical knowledge of network control protocols (QOS, PfR, PoE, NTP, DHCP), management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP), and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec, Trust Sec).
• Work with IP communication and routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP); inter-company routing is preferred.
• Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (Ethernet, Frame Relay, DMVPN, WAAS, MPLS).
• Implement and migrate SD-WAN (IWAN, Viptela).
• Manage configuration of networking devices using automation tools (APIC-EM, Cisco Prime) and API scripting with Python.
• Document design, system builds, configurations, and support procedures.
• Communicate and present ideas to clients concisely.
• Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
• Prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment and maintain strong customer service orientation.

• 2-3 years of experience in designing, deploying, and implementing core route/switch and/or data center networks.
• Certifications in CCNA or CCNP preferred.
• Knowledge or experience with Nexus 9K and ACI is a plus.
• Knowledge or experience with F5 load balancing, Palo Alto technologies, Cisco UCS, or Cisco MDS is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Related degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or seven to ten years of equivalent network engineering experience.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to produce outstanding results.
• Generic knowledge of system management best practices, monitoring, change control, etc.
• Experience with documentation of design, system builds, configurations, and support procedures.
• Ability to communicate and present ideas to a client concisely.
• Up to 50% regional travel.

• Hybrid work position in Honolulu, HI.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits may include medical, dental & vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k), transportation benefits, PTO, and other programs.
