Kamehameha Schools (KS) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and people-centered HR leader to oversee and advance the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) function. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy, leadership, and execution, guiding a high-performing team while aligning people strategies with organizational goals and mission impact. The HRBP Leader provides direction, coaching, and operational leadership to the HR Business Partner team, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery and trusted consultation for executives and leaders across the organization.
With strong business acumen and systems thinking, this role leads workforce planning, organizational design, and change management initiatives, partnering closely with leaders to navigate complex people challenges, drive engagement, and support growth and transformation. As a key connector across HR, this position collaborates with functional HR leaders to ensure HRBPs are well-versed in enterprise-wide programs, policies, and tools, enabling effective, data-informed decision-making.
The role emphasizes continuous improvement: designing scalable HRBP processes, leveraging analytics and technology, and anticipating future workforce needs while maintaining compliance and best practices. Balancing strategic vision with hands-on leadership, the HRBP Leader fosters a strong, diverse, and engaged team culture, supports HRBPs through sensitive and high-risk matters, and models sound judgment, confidentiality, and integrity. Job Summary
Effectively leads and manages the HR Business Partner team in delivering strategic services that align people plans with organizational goals. Implements an HR Business Partner team and service delivery model that provides expert guidance on people-related matters, solving business challenges, and driving employee engagement and retention. Collaborates with cross-functional HR leaders to understand the broad HR programs and ensure HRBPs are well-versed in HR offerings aiding effective consultation with executives and leaders.
EssentialResponsibilities HR Business Partner Strategy & Business Acumen
- Leads the implementation of effective HR programs through HR Business Partners in partnership with other HR operational areas.
- Implements a service delivery model addressing current and future talent needs by aligning people strategies with department/division goals and the organization's mission.
- Regularly interacts and builds relationships with business leaders to identify areas of need and opportunity in people management and development.
- Serves as a leading member in reorganizations, workforce planning, and change management initiatives, with responsibilities in conducting readiness of stakeholders, developing change plans, and evaluating outcomes. Partners with KS Communications as needed.
- Provides operational leadership and guidance to ensure consistency and alignment of service delivery, effectively communicating the vision, strategy, and goal.
- Assessess and evaluates workload, efficiently allocating team resources to ensure highest level of client satisfaction.
- Builds a strong, high-performing, and diverse team while fostering a productive work environment.
- Provides support to HRBPs when complex, specialized, and sensitive issues arise. May be required to execute routine tasks and/or conduct investigations in high-risk situations.
- Interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department as needed.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and documenting HRBP processes for continuous improvement and quality assurance, that are informed by best practices.
- Collaborates with HR Technology to consistently assess, review and modify operational processes; implements system enhancements as needed.
- Creates and implements HRBP processes that leverage data analytics, trends, and regulatory changes to forecast future workforce needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in HR.
