Founded in 1921, Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology.
Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
Our team of trained gastroenterologists evaluates and treats esophageal, stomach, intestinal, bowel, liver and pancreatic disorders. These physicians are committed to bring relief to patients suffering from abdominal pain, ulcers, gallstones, bowel obstructions, liver ailments, intestinal inflammations and benign or malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, and can perform a wide variety of diagnostic tests, such as endoscopic examination of the area, biopsies or radiologic examinations.
Responsibilities- Coordinate work activities and staffing at our Gastroenterology department, including training and maintaining master schedules.
- Process professional/technical fees generated by department providers.
- Interview, register, admit, update and create patients’ medical records.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the professional staff by facilitating clerical and reception responsibilities and assisting in administrative tasks.
- Demonstrate exceptional planning and communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Maintain a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.
- Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Two (2) years clerical support experience in a health care setting including medical insurance and collection experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Associate s degree in business administration and/or related field. International Classification of Diseases 10th edition (ICD-10) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). Medical terminology experience. MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) experience.
