Overview
Enhance the lives of seniors in your community! A Care Professional I supports clients by assisting with day-to-day household tasks and helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-organized living environment. This role includes offering companionship, meaningful engagement, and emotional support, as well as preparing and serving meals, managing cleanup, and providing reminders for oral medications and hydration. Care Professionals also encourage healthy routines such as recommended exercises and nutritional habits.
In addition to home-helper and companionship duties, the position provides specialized non-medical services, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, Parkinson’s care, behavior-management support, and non-medical hospice services coordinated with hospice teams. Through these combined responsibilities, a Care Professional I ensures clients receive compassionate, reliable, and personalized support tailored to their daily needs. Accurate documentation of services provided and prompt communication regarding changes in the client’s condition are essential parts of the role, ensuring continuity of care and client safety.
- Companionship and conversation
- Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
- Medication and appointment reminders
- Alzheimer’s & other dementias care
- Ability to treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect
- Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
- Complete a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check and drug screen
- Possess a valid driver’s license and valid auto insurance (required if driving clients)
- No Experience Necessary — skills training provided by Home Instead
- Background checks and drug screen as part of the onboarding process
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and demonstrate empathy and respect
