About the Position
About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Behavioral Health Psychiatry Services in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
Duties- Serve as a recognized technical authority in the delivery of Psychiatric medical care for child and adolescent patients and their families.
- Provide treatment services including inpatient, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, tele-psychiatric services, routine/intensive outpatient services for family based intervention.
- Develop treatment plans and provide appropriate therapeutic treatment services that may include medication management, various individual therapy modalities, group therapy, and family therapy.
- Monitor treatment through evidence-based medicine and alters course of treatment providing follow-up care for children, adolescents, and their families with mental health and behavioral disorders.
- Conduct thorough biopsychosocial evaluations of presenting children and adolescents, including family developmental histories to integrate findings from psychological testing and clinical observations.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment.
- Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving rare, complicated, and multifaceted cases that require advanced treatments.
- Provide professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff such as psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers.
- Serve as member of local Medical Evaluation Boards for assessment and determination of duty.
- Conduct training and provides supervision over psychiatric residents, interns, medical students, psychology interns, and other medical and mental health trainees.
- Assist in developing guidelines for training and evaluating its impact.
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs.
- Makes recommendations on improvement of work methods and organizational features while serving on committees or working groups that review and establish new treatment guidelines or updates policy for mental health across the service component.
- Serve as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various local and national meetings, committees, conferences, and/or boards.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series unless exempt IAW Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
