Position: Patient Service Coord, Surgical Services Admin (Full-Time, 40, Day/Evening)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective Date: 04/23

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates scheduling activities and services related to a patient's surgery or procedure at The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) surgical services for assigned area. Works with providers, staff, other health care team members, and department facilities to ensure services are coordinated and provided appropriately to the patient.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
  • Frequent: sitting, reaching below shoulder level.
  • Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, lifting, repetitive arm/hand motions, reaching at shoulder level.
III. TYPICAL

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Some exposure to communicable diseases.
IV.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform 7,200 adjusted keystrokes per hour.
B.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Two (2) years experience in scheduling perioperative cases/appointments or clerical experience in a healthcare related setting, preferably in a comparable hospital or outpatient setting.
  • Experience to demonstrate:
    • Knowledge in scheduling, preferably in EPIC.
    • Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements related to reimbursement and patient’s rights and confidentiality, and access to services.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally, in writing, and understand verbal and written communications.
    • Ability to be accurate and attentive to detail.
    • Ability to problem solve, with strong analytical skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
