Overview
This posting is used to fill Speech Language Pathologist positions that provide services to students at various schools within the Central District as needed and assigned by the Central District Office. The authorized level is Speech Language Pathologist IV. Applications are being accepted down to the Speech Language Pathologist II in the event of recruiting difficulties.
SalarySalary Range:
All new external applicants will be placed on the initial step of the salary range. However, placement above the initial step will be based on special characteristics and critical needs of the position, an applicant's exceptional qualifications, the availability of funds, and other relevant factors. Such appointments require prior approval. Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations.
- Speech Language Pathologist II, SR-18: $5,239.00 - $5,867.00 per month
- Speech Language Pathologist III, SR-20: $5,695.00 - $6,362.00 per month
- Speech Language Pathologist IV, SR-22: $6,029.00 - $6,735.00 per month
Basic Education Requirement
:
Applicants for all levels must possess a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders program approved by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Experience Requirement
:
Applicants must have progressively responsible work experience of the kind, quality, and quantity described below:
- Speech-Language Pathologist II:
Specialized Experience 0*, Supervisory Experience 0, Total Experience 0 - Speech-Language Pathologist III:
Specialized Experience 0*, Supervisory Experience 0, Total Experience 0 - Speech-Language Pathologist IV:
Specialized Experience 1 year;
Supervisory Experience may be required. Total Experience 1 year.
Note:
Level II and III require meeting all academic and clinical practicum requirements for eligibility in the ASHA clinical fellowship program, as specified in the Rules of the Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology in the State of Hawaii. For level IV and above, supervisory aptitude may be accepted; for level IV and above, at least one year of experience must be comparable to the next lower level.
Specialized
Experience:
Professional experience as an SLP must indicate a full professional understanding of theories, research and evidence-based practices of speech-language pathology and the proper application of practices to meet students’ educational, developmental, and social needs.
For some SLP IV positions, supervisory aptitude may be required. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for supervisory duties through successful completion of assignments, etc.
